As the new school year begins and special educators are challenged to meet their students’ needs, we are excited to announce that we are continuing to offer virtual Literacy Office Hours for Special Education Teachers.These virtual meetups are a chance for special educators across Arizona to learn from each other, celebrate successes, and share literacy resources to increase the learning outcomes for all students with disabilities. Join our virtual meet-ups and connect with your colleagues to learn from wherever you are in our state.

A new Average daily Membership (ADM) integrity rule will be introduced into the integrity process for FY21 shortly. Integrity Rule -10133 Students reported with Tuition Payer Code 7 (Students funded through other state formula programs) must have a SPED Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) reported for all dates of the Tuition Payer Code 7.

Effective Fiscal Year 2022, two Integrity Rules will be upgrading from a warning to a failure.Please be aware you can identify students receiving these warnings in FY21 to prepare for your reporting in FY22. Please check your INTEG15 report in the AzEDS Portal to determine if your entity is failing any Integrity Rules. The INTEG15 report can filter by warnings only.

A new Data Quality Validation integrity rule -51002 will be introduced into the integrity process on FY22 Enrollment data shortly. This update is a continuation of our effort to ensure clean data for the state. A new one-sheet Integrity Tool is now available on our AzEDS SPED Reporting webpage for troubleshooting tips for Integrity Rule -51002.

DATA MANAGEMENT ALERT Upcoming change for Fiscal Year 2024 - Special Education Disabilities allowed for Preschool Programs for Students with Disabilities.An update to allowable special education (SPED) disabilities for preschool programs will be introduced in Fiscal Year (FY) 2024. This update is a continuation of our effort to further validate SPED reporting and ensure accurate data for the state.Updates to integrity rules and validation matrices will take effect on 7/1/23 to allow all SPED disabilities to be reported for preschool programs except EDP.

The Arizona Department of Education (ADE) will soon apply for federal funding under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) for the period of July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025. This application document serves as the basis for the operation and administration of activities to carry out the requirements of Part B of the IDEA. As part of the public participation process set forth in the IDEA Part B regulations at 34 CFR § 300.165 and in Section 427 of the General Education Provisions Act (GEPA) (20 U.S.C. 1228a), the State must publish its Federal Fiscal Year (FFY) 2023 IDEA Part B Application and allow public comment.
