Pre-Conference Training
On Monday, December 9th just before we kick-off our annual conference (Day Zero), we have the opportunity to host a grammar-based training specifically for the K-12 Targeted English Language Development (ELD) teachers in Arizona! This session will be facilitated by Heidi Koski, a well-known trainer in the field of ELD and grammar instruction! She will dig into how the English language works as we consider the various verb tenses and syntax structures. Heidi will also work through several aspects of the Grammar Wall, including its set-up, the eight parts of speech, subcategories, appropriate scaffolding, and how to use a Grammar Wall to teach specific structures of English. Participants will walk away from this engaging session with the knowledge and capacity to not only implement a usable Grammar Wall in their classroom, but also how to teach verbs and the tenses. Participants will receive the key materials to set up a Grammar Wall in their classrooms, resource materials for grammar instruction, plus much more.
Target Audience: K-12 Targeted English Language Development (ELD) teachers*
*Participants of this pre-conference session are not required to register for the full conference. We encourage any educators of ELs to register for this session!
