Welcome to Live, Remote Instruction Incentive Program
The Arizona State Legislature passed FY24 budget including both a financial framework and an incentive program for offering live, remote instruction from one LEA to another. Live, remote instruction means that a teacher offers real-time instruction to students both in person and via video teleconferencing. LEAs can participate as a service receiver and/or as a service provider.
Schools with the technical and professional capabilities to provide live, remote instruction for AP, IB, and CIE courses will be given the opportunity to develop relationships with other schools lacking those resources.
Service receivers:
- Receive Average Daily Membership (ADM) for the student.
- Provide an in-person teacher or instructional aide to supervise students taking live, remote courses and serve as a proxy for exams.
- Ensure that students satisfy the instructional time and instructional hours requirements.
- Provide administrative functions for students such as including live, remote courses on students’ transcripts and tracking progress for graduation requirements.
Service providers:
- Provide live instructional courses to both remote and in-person students.
- Supervise and pay teachers of live, remote instructional courses.
Financial framework:
Service receivers and providers may sign an Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA). A sample IGA will be available on our website soon. Service providers must pay the instructor of a live, remote course at least 25% of the per-course, per-student fees.
Incentive Bonuses for Service Providers:
Service Providers of courses that prepare students for qualifying AP, IB, and Cambridge exams are eligible for both College Credit by Exam Incentive Payments and a Live, Remote Bonus. Each year, the Arizona Board of Regents determines which courses qualify. The conditions to receive each bonus are listed below:
College Credit by Exam Incentive Payments – a student receives a passing grade on a qualifying AP/IB/Cambridge Exam
Live, Remote Bonus – at least 10 remote students receive a passing grade in a live, remote course that prepares students for a qualifying AP/IB/Cambridge Exam. The 10 students can be spread out among different courses offered by the same service provider. Service providers will receive $500 per passing student. This amount may be reduced proportionally if the number of qualifying students surpasses the amount appropriated.
If you would like to be a service provider of live, remote courses, please provide a list of courses and the best link/contact that LEAs can use to enroll students. These will be listed on our website so that LEAs, parents, and students can easily find the courses available statewide. This information can be sent to [email protected].
