Horne statement on Attorney General’s criticism of ESA management
PHOENIX – State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Horne issued the following statement in reaction to comments made today by Attorney General Kris Mayes who disparaged the Arizona Department of Education’s administration of the Empowerment Scholarship Program.
Horne stated, “When my department found fraud in the ESA program, we sent the case to the Attorney General for prosecution. Mayes is so incompetent that someone who should have been convicted was acquitted.
Our department has more than 600 people who do nothing but work on education. The Governor’s office as perhaps 3 or 4 people, but Mayes’ office has zero.”
