Instructional Time Model Template for School Districts and Charter Schools
A.R.S. § 15-901.08 authorizes districts and charter districts to adopt Instructional Time Models (ITMs) to provide flexibility in how instructional hours are provided to students.
School districts and charter schools should use this template to notify ADE of their adopted ITMs and details.
ADE intends for one document to be submitted per district or charter district that describes the types of flexibility that will be implemented and the extent to which instruction will deviate from a traditional 5-day week.
For more information on the types of flexibility authorized and the associated school finance procedures, please review School Finance Guidance on HB 2862 and our FAQ on HB 2862.
An ITM will be in effect after the governing board meets the requirements to adopt an ITM outlined in A.R.S. § 15-901.08, not upon submission to the agency. ITM submissions to the agency will ensure a clear understanding of the operationalized flexibilities authorized by statute. The submitted ITM will outline the processes of districts and charter districts that will be utilized to document student attendance for future audit purposes.
Please remember that if remote instruction is provided as part of an ITM, there are percentage limitations on a school site's total instructional hours before funding is impacted.
