Tutors
Tutoring is individualized, supplemental, standards-based instruction. The outcome of tutoring is student academic progress, encompassing measures of both proficiency and academic gain as stated in § A.R.S. 15-241 (K). As a tutor, you will be providing these extended learning experiences to reach set learning goals. These extended learning experiences or supplemental instruction are those after school, before school, during lunch, weekends, supplemental Fridays, evenings, intersession, or any pullouts that do not remove students from core content area classes. Core content areas that students may not be pulled from for tutoring include, but are not limited to:
American Government Art Biology Chemistry CTE Classes Earth Science Economics English Foreign Language General Science Geography Mathematics
Math Interventions Music Performing Arts Physical Education Physical Science Physics Political Science Reading Reading Interventions SEI Classroom Social Studies Special Education Visual Arts
Please remember to take the instructional Training! This is required training for all tutors to be eligible for STF payments and recommended for all coordinators and grant applicants.

Certificates of Supplemental Instruction (CSI) are crucial to a tutoring initiative with any student. The certificates should be filled out before tutoring begins to help set the standard of what is to be tutored, the time frame, and an attestation that the student has shown progress once tutoring is finished. The CSI must be completed 3 times over the course of the 2018-2019 school year. If students master the standards addressed in the CSI, then regardless of the timeline, a new CSI will be completed with parent signature. If, at any time, a student switches tutors or providers, the original CSI must be kept on file and a new one created for the student and the new tutor. A Parent or Guardian signature is required on all CSIs.
To obtain SAIS information, please contact your school office or your district SAIS technology coordinator. The ADE does not provide this information.
Each LEA has an allocated number of tutoring hours they can use for the 2018-2019 school year. It is imperative that you keep accurate records of their hours with your coordinator or LEA program representative to ensure that your district does not go over its allocation. This is vital as your LEA will pay you for your time and ADE will reimburse your district for services rendered that are within the guidelines of the grant.
