Desktop and Program Monitoring of English Learner Programs
EL Desktop Monitoring
Conducted for LEAs (Local Education Agency; district or charter) that accept Title I funds whether or not they have English Learners (ELs) actively enrolled in EL services. LEAs move through a 6-year cycle of monitoring where each cycle is an online monitoring from different program areas within the Arizona Department of Education (ADE), such as Title I/II, Migrant Education, Title IV, etc. EL Desktop Monitoring is assigned to LEAs in Cycle 6.
EL PROGRAM Monitoring
Any LEA (Local Education Agency; district or charter) who currently has ELs enrolled in their district or charter may be selected for EL Program Monitoring. LEA selection for EL Program Monitoring is grounded in ARS 15-756.08. Outside of the top 50 LEAs with the highest enrollment of ELs (about 12 each year), an additional 20-25 LEAs are randomly selected (according to the legal requirements) to be monitored. The Office of English Language Acquisition Services (OELAS) initially monitors about 30-35 LEAs each year.
If your LEA (Local Education Agency; district or charter) is being Program Monitored for the 2024-2025 school year, all notifications will be sent to applicable LEAs.
If you do not receive a notification letter by October 24, 2024, your district or charter is not assigned to the 2024-2025 cycle of monitoring.
