I need to see their process- not just the final product 00:36:25 Carolina, she/her, Phoenix: my kids don't want to share their cams cause they are embarrassed and don't have a space of their own 00:36:26 Allex Killion: we aren't even allowed to ask our students to turn their cameras on. minimal engagement. 00:36:32 Carolina, she/her, Phoenix: I like that idea 00:36:32 Candace Greene: Grace you can become a member of National Art Education Association and they will send you emails with free webinars, your membership to NAEA also makes you a member of Arizona Art Education Association. Membership into NAEA is $90 for a year, and it is a full year not a school year 00:36:35 Candace Greene: https://www.arteducators.org/ 00:36:36 Dr. Brett: I can’t get mine to do thes 00:38:40 Grace Contreras: I still have all my students create a handmade cardboard portfolio and place all handmade artworks and their handwriting Journal, sketches into their hardcopy artist portfolio. 00:39:56 Jennifer Kaste: I use Artsonia but have used the language turn in …. now that they have work in it and stuff I like the idea of revisiting it as a portfolio of their work. Maybe have them reflect on it and write goals … even my young could do this easily! 00:40:06 Beth from Chandler AZ: Ryan, do you have written or screencast instructions for how to set up digital portfolios? 00:40:11 Carolina, she/her, Phoenix: Yes, I love love this 00:40:52 Carolina, she/her, Phoenix: I work with younger kids so just use Padlet, they are able to write about their pieces, post videos too, and it's easy 00:41:16 Jennifer Kaste: It looks like he was using google sites - he maybe set up a structure share it and they make a copy and personalize …??? 00:41:21 Amy Seeley: Wow! I love this! Do you have an example you can share as well as guidelines as to what you ask of them to do? I do something similar in Google Slides though-this would definitely be the next step. :-) 00:41:23 Allex Killion: padlet is the best 00:41:43 Dr. Brett: I just used padlet for high schoolers exit ticket 00:42:45 Grace Contreras: Yes! Padlet allows, enables drawing and creativity all students can record 00:45:23 Allex Killion: We make visual literacy boards, they put all their work in padlet, and each lesson builds upon the prior giving them a description of each unit through their own creations, they do a reflection at the end of the unit discussing their visual literacy growth and evidence from their work. 00:45:24 Palmer Shim on, Tucson (He/Him): if your school uses Microsoft Teams, there is also a Whiteborad now available; works very much like Padlet 00:48:03 Jennifer Kaste: I’m familiar with pallet but I’m not sure how you all are using it for a portfolio? Are you putting up a pallet for each project/assignment and every student then posts their product? Or does each child have their own pallet that they add to? 00:48:08 Palmer Shim on, Tucson (He/Him): That is fantastic. I was looking at soap creating activity, but this is so much better.... 00:48:45 Palmer Shim on, Tucson (He/Him): we are making our own paper for water-colors 00:49:28 Grace Contreras: Expression of emotions within illustrations 00:51:07 Allex Killion: They create their own accounts on padlet. Have them use a referral link to get you more padlets to create examples. 00:51:24 Carolina, she/her, Phoenix: @jennifer I had my 7/8 kids each create their own Padlet- it took a lot of me bugging them but once they have them, they like it 00:52:13 Carolina, she/her, Phoenix: I want to try the other ideas that you guys were sharing too! 00:54:35 Palmer Shim on, Tucson (He/Him): thank you for that comment...Process, Process Process so important more so than the end result. 00:55:34 Beth from Chandler AZ: I’ve created a routine for weekly assignments. Students turn in one example of finished art as “weekly art,” and the materials are open-ended. They answer 5 reflective questions about their process and experience. They also turn in a photo of their daily warm-up sketches. It has given them stability through routine, and it has made my grading so much easier! 00:58:51 Grace Contreras: I love this idea and I will Do this ! Visiting the local Tucson Art places During the Class Time! Just Love This Idea I am in Tucson at TUSD Valencia Middle School 01:01:09 Carolina, she/her, Phoenix: Grace, Valencia was my first school I taught at :) 01:03:28 Palmer Shim on, Tucson (He/Him): Me too Grace - I'm at Safford K-8. I'd love to collaborate on guest teacher in the Virtual World...love doing a Field Trip and being on-site rather than a virtual-in the room session - so much more exciting to be live 01:03:31 Dr. Brett: Yeah, I could do this on Fridays as we are completely online those days 01:05:08 Palmer Shim on, Tucson (He/Him): Camera's on is a requirement in our District, yet many students do not...and Yes, having them show the process while working during class is great. Some of kids do this naturally and have done so without request 01:05:18 Carolina, she/her, Phoenix: Sorry if this was already somewhere, but could we see Ryan's lesson activity again with the different colors? 01:05:46 Grace Contreras: I will begin this idea and take myself into the local places of art in Tucson and create the Virtual Fieldtrips with Assignments related to the places I am highlighting... 01:06:00 Palmer Shim on, Tucson (He/Him): Digital Portfolio's can also be set up in One-drive for non-google schools 01:06:27 Candace Greene: If you have any questions or want help with making a virtual field trip or want to know more about Arizona Art Education Association and upcoming free PD you can email me at candacegreene@alhambraesd.org 01:06:44 CASSANDRA CONTRERAS: The data one 01:06:46 Beth from Chandler AZ: Ryan-Thank you for being willing to share your video and information! 01:06:57 Gabriella Contreras: Is there a way that he could share the slides that explains the lessons? 01:07:22 Grace Contreras: I am from South Carolina and relocated to Tucson Az is there a list posted somewhere of the Art places to visit in person for my students can see as Virtual Field Trips in the Arts places 01:07:48 Grace Contreras: Question:I am from South Carolina and relocated to Tucson Az is there a list posted somewhere of the Art places to visit in person for my students can see as Virtual Field Trips in the Arts places 01:08:04 Candace Greene: Grace, I have just googled places and called and asked to see who was willing to work with me. 01:08:51 Carolina, she/her, Phoenix: awesome, thank you so much 01:08:59 Palmer Shim on, Tucson (He/Him): Awesome...love the process and thought that went into creating this art work...beautiful graphic representation. She could sell the image as a print or perhaps as a business log...could be her own logo for her Graphic Design Business :)! 01:09:49 Palmer Shim on, Tucson (He/Him): I'm a member at the Botanical, but have your been able to have admit without paying additional fee? 01:10:51 Grace Contreras: Got it! I am so on this idea! 01:11:43 Palmer Shim on, Tucson (He/Him): If your in Tucson and want to schedule a day at a location with two or three of us on-location please contact me at Palmer.Shimon@tusd1.org 01:13:13 Gabriella Contreras: Thank you for your time :-) wonderful session! 01:13:55 Grace Contreras: Just loved this Time...
