Crystal Darkness Talking Points
Methamphetamine use is recognized as a serious problem in Arizona and is receiving much media attention. The 2005 Arizona Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) revealed that 4.8 percent of 9th - 12th grade students have tried methamphetamine. Full YRBS Report.
While media campaigns can contribute to the awareness of an issue, they must be followed up with effective prevention education in order to provide correct knowledge to youth and to develop skills that aid in the rejection of drug use.
